Success Built on Partnership

At Carleton University, we believe in the power of education to create positive, lasting change in the world. We work in collaboration with partners from industry, government and academia to find solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

Our corporate and government partners have invested through the Women in Engineering & IT (WiE&IT) Program to empower and equip women engineers and IT professionals with the knowledge, network and skills to thrive in their future careers.

Alongside our partners, we have driven an incredible amount of impact since the Faculty of Engineering and Design launched this first-of-its-kind program in Canada in 2021.

Through the WiE&IT Program, students form relationships with peers and women leaders in the industry and cultivate a sense of inclusion, belonging and resilience. They also build their competencies, experience and confidence, preparing them to be knowledgeable and passionate contributors to their future workplaces.

These positive experiences and outcomes have contributed to increased retention of women students in engineering and IT programs. It has also helped attract prospective women high school and graduate students, who have responded positively to the program at recruitment events.

Carleton University and the Faculty of Engineering and Design would like to thank the following 20 corporate and government partners for their support of the WiE&IT Program.

LONG-TERM IMPACT

As the program matures, the number of women pursuing studies and careers in engineering and IT will continue to grow. And, as women graduate with the rights skills, experience and support, they will be equipped to navigate the complexities of their careers and develop innovative solutions to the challenges the sector is facing.

In the shorter term, this will have a positive impact on your talent pool of skilled and knowledgeable women. Over time, it will contribute to more representation in the field – creating stronger networks of support for women engineers and IT professionals and inspiring and empowering future generations of young women interested in STEM. The Women in Engineering & IT Program is a perfect illustration of what is possible when a community of like-minded individuals and organizations come together to build purposeful action around a shared cause.
